“Music is my passion and my escape from reality.”
Nyasia Chane’l grew up in the small town of Fallsburg in the Catskills region of Upstate New York. Known then as Nyasia Harris she began to express herself creatively at an early age. “I’ve been singing since I was 4 years old. Music has been my passion and my creative expression all my life.” She says. Through the years she was always singing. Dazzling both parishioners in the pews at church and her fellow classmates in the halls of her high school.
In early 2017 Nyasia released her first single “Do it Like That” and achieved modest underground success. Soon after her single’s release she began to spark local interest and she was invited to perform at various venues across the tristate.
On July 29, 2018, DJ Norie of Power 105.1 FM debuted the remix to her single "Do It Like That" featuring Dancehall artiste Jay Bankz. The single was made available on all digital streaming platforms on August 1, 2018, to great success, currently accumulating more than 45,000 streams in total.
Nyasia released an extended release entitled “The Idol” EP in December of 2018. This project a collection of cover songs and remixes. The inspiration for this project came from her fans and social media followers. Every Monday Nyasia posts a candid short video to her Instagram page of her single songs by musicians, singers and artists she “idols”, Nyasia calls this “My Idol Mondays”. With an overwhelming amount of positive feedback Nyasia felt she should give a gift to her fans by posting full versions of her unique renditions of popular songs for free on Soundcloud.
“People would always ask me after I posted a song, “Why did you stop!?”, So I decided to have some fun and give the people what they want” – Nyasia Chane’l “The Idol EP” spawned 2 standout records “Her-Roar” a remix to Lil Wayne’s Uproar which even featured Nyasia displaying her rapping skills and “Dive” a beautiful rendition of Ed Sheeran’s classic album cut. Both songs received tremendous amount of digital success as well as radio support. In particular “Her-Roar” became a club deejay favorite.
Nyasia is the definition of a “working artist”, she has performed at countless venues all over East Coast, including S.O.B.’s, Resorts Worlds Casino, the Chance Theater and countless other venues and festivals. Nyasia was afforded the opportunity to perform at the HBO sponsored tribute to Aretha Franklin at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, She opened for R&B Crooner August Alsina, Legendary Hip Hop star DMX, performed alongside Reggae legend Richie Stephens, veteran Blues singer Grand Slam Allen just to name a few.
In 2019, Nyasia intends to work with some of the industry’s top producers and songwriters and continue to produce quality music and add to her increasingly growing fan base.
